With the development of the FSA into two new bodies, the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), we are experiencing huge change – and our IS division is the engine room for this. As we continue to provide the data and information our frontline colleagues need to fulfill our brief to maintain a stable financial system for the UK economy, IS has an increasingly diverse and far-reaching remit. This is why we are now significantly expanding our in-house IS team.
Our scope is wide reaching and encompasses every facet of the business. We’re responsible for the infrastructures that underpin the activities of every division within the FSA. For example, we provide systems to our Markets & Enforcement and Financial Crime divisions, allowing them to analyse every single trade made in the UK market and capture information about potentially illegal activity. Alternatively, our IT initiatives could have organisation-wide implications. For example, we are planning to roll out the Rational Unified Process (RUP) for software development, a massive change programme that will affect both internal teams and external application development suppliers.
Our challenge is to remain at the forefront of an ever-evolving, complex and diverse financial services sector. To do this, we need first-rate IT professionals with a passion for technology and experience of applying it to deliver business benefits. People who are excited by the prospect of using their knowledge in a challenging, regulatory environment. Those who are keen to develop an interest in the entire spectrum of financial services.
